At 1,001,400 square kilomiters, (386,660 sq mi, )Egypt occupies the north-eastern part
of Africa.
Blessed with its unique location in
the cross area between Africa, Asia and Europe,
Egypt's geography comprises mountains, deserts,
beaches and its beautiful green Nile valley. |

Climate |
|
Mediterranean, the sun particularly shines all year
round, at least 8 hours a day and rainy days are the
exception. Even in the summer months (June – August)
the northern wind blowing from Europe brings about a
milder weather. On average temperature vary between
9 to 19 °C in winter and between 22 to 34 °C in
summer |

Egypt is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich
Mean Time.(GMT + 2)
Day light saving time is applied from
the last weekend in April till the last
weekend in September. |

Currency and credit cards |
|
The local currency is the Egyptian
Pound (L.E). Each pound is divided into 100 Piasters.
The government is recently reformed the exchange
rate system, calling for the commercial banks to
announce a daily exchange rate for the Egyptian
Pound. The daily exchange rate is published in the
local papers.
Credit cards are accepted at the most
restaurants, car hire companies and shops. The most
widely accepted cards are American Express, Visa
Master Card & Diners Club. |

Language |
|
Arabic is the official language in
Egypt. English is the predominant foreign language
and French is widely spoken. |

The
Pyramids And the Sphinx of Giza |
|
The pyramids of Cheops, Chephren,
Mycerinus were reckoned by the Greeks to be one of
the seven wonders of the world. A single Pyramid is
built with 2.300.000 blocks, each weighing an
average of two and a half tones. In front of the
pyramids lies the Sphinx, or Abu Al – Hol in Arabic.
Carved out of the single block of a lion and the
head of a king has mesmerized millions of visitors. |

The
Egyptian Museum |
|
The Egyptian Museum is the most
important depositary of Egyptian antiques anywhere
in the world. It features artifacts from the
pharaonic and Greco- Roman periods, including the
celebrated mummies of ancient Egypt's Kings and
Tutankhamon's treasures. |

The
Citadel |
|
The Citadel dominates Cairo's
skyline, and was the dense center of the city and
Egypt for almost 700 years. The old fortress was
built by Salah El Din Al Ayoubi, founder of the
Ayoubbid dynasty (1171 to 1250). |

Memphis & Sakkara |
|
Memphis served as the capital of
upper and Lower Egypt 5000 years ago during the
first Dynasty. Menes, the first Pharaoh of this
dynasty built a great white-walled palace and the
Temple of Path there.
Sakkara is on of the most exciting
historical and archaeological areas in Egypt,
situated about 12 miles south west Cairo. The site
is dominated by the famous step Pyramids of Zoser.
It was the first Pyramid built in ancient Egypt,
preceding the ones at Giza by many centuries. |

to the 14th century, where you can find
an enormous variety of handmade goods, souvenirs,
copper, brassware, glassware, carpets, kilims, gold,

It is the 87 – meters high Cairo
Tower built in 1961. There is a restaurant at the
top and a viewing platform from which a fabulous
panorama of Cairo is possible on a clear day. |
